The compression of skin between a bony prominence (the heel) and an external surface (a mattress or bed clothing) for a prolonged period causes pressure ulcers. The design of the HeelPleezr™ addresses the most important factors in preventing pressure ulcers and enhancing the curing of existing ulcers while minimizing chances of foot-drop. The open heel design allows for the free flow of air thereby enhancing healing and helping to ensure the total lock of pressure on the heel. The engineered shape of the superior grade foam ensures the heel is off the bed, even when the patient is lying on an overlay or moving from side to side. The sewing angle of the foot section maintains the foot in the upright position helping to eliminate foot-drop. The integrated toe flap provides warmth and protection, or toes can be placed over the top for exposure. The cotton/lycra blend fabric is highly absorbent and able to wick heat and moisture while providing excellent conformance to the anatomy. The HeelPleezr™ can be easily laundered multiple times.
